The Demon Headmaster Scripted
This scheme of work and 6 lesson plans are designed to be used with ‘The Demon Headmaster’, playscript which can be purchased here
The scheme encourages students to build upon their knowledge of creating a character in more depth as well as look at ‘off text’ improvisation and what it can add to a drama piece.
Each lesson in this 6 lesson plan also includes a full break down of practical exercises and activities as well as a PowerPoint and 2 worksheets, to aid students learning.

Lesson Objectives & Activities:
Lesson 1: To read scripted text. Activities - Warm-up Divide students into small groups to read the text and feed back their section of the story.
Lesson 2: To establish the characters in the text. To create a character tableau. Activities - Warm-up. Students are to think of a line that would best describe their character. Character exercise and then character tableau evaluate as a class.
Lesson 3: To devise an off-text improvisation. To rehearse their off text improvisation. Activities - Warm-up. Explanation of off-text improvisation. Students are then to devise and start to rehearse a scene not in the text.
Lesson 4: To perform off text improvisation. Activities - Warm-up Short rehearsal of improvisation and then performance to peers and evaluation. Groupings for script next lesson.
Lesson 5: To plan and rehearse a section of script. Activities - Warm-up. Students are to block and rehearse a section of the script and learn for homework for assessment for the next lesson.
Lesson 6: To perform their section of script using characterisation. Activities - Warm-up. Short rehearsal of script and then performance of script to their peers for assessment and evaluation, in order of scenes. Teacher assessment.
